Facebook is Now Allowing Pages to Create Groups... and That's Kind of a Big Deal

We've all been a member of a handful of Facebook groups.

Whether filled with friends and family, teammates, classmates, or other like-minded folks, somewhere during our time spent on Facebook, we've decided to join a group. Or many groups. But now, we are presented with the opportunity to join a group created by and managed by a brand.

Think of it as the pinnacle of brand-ambassadorship.

So, for us marketers, we are presented with the opportunity to uniquely connect with our customers in a way that we haven't quite seen before.

But what does this mean for businesses?

  1. Higher engagement (members will often receive notifications whenever there is activity in the group)
  2.  Peer-to-peer support (reduce the stress on your customer service staff and let other, loyal customers/fans answer the questions)
  3. Create a community (this is where the brand loyalists and the superfans live)
  4. Maintain control (now this is the official fan club)

So doit. This is the next must-have in digital marketing. I gaurentee it. Plus, creating a group via Facebook pages couldn't be simpler.

To create a group:

  1. Navigate to Page

  2. Click Settings in the top right-hand corner

  3. Click Edit Page in the left-hand column

  4. Click Add a Tab at the bottom of the page

  5. Select Groups

  6. Then, navigate back to the page and select Groups on the left-hand column

  7. Click Create Group button (already have a group? click the "Link Your Group" button)
